It is the bi-centenary of Charles Dickens birth on 7th Feburary 2012 and we, unable to find anything else to comemorate this great man, have this fine plaster bust of Queen Victoria, dated April 1887, by Daniel Landi. presumably originally made for the queen's diamond jubilee. Discovered in the basement of a Norwich home we know little of the busts history, but it is in extremely good condition. It is inscribed on the back with S. A. Macfarland Ltd., who were marble importers in Glasgow, and we know that a composite casting from this bust was removed from a building in Carmarthen in the 1980's.
